May Recap

Whew! May seems like it was a busy month for us, but June is going to be even busier.

Anyway, I've already posted about Matt's yard work and gardening as well as our many trips to local playgrounds, but here's what else we did in May:

We went to a local park where they keep farm animals.

Running through the field

Saying hi to the chickens (and soon after this was taken Matt learned why poking fingers through their cage is a bad idea - no real harm done, just a light peck)

Talking to the cow

Visiting the sheep

We also went to a birthday party for two of Matt's friends who turned two this past month (where has the time gone?!).

Playing with pinwheels

Giving his friend (who is one day younger than he is) a push on the swing

Taking a quiet moment underneath the backyard play structure

We also went to the grand opening for the new playground in town, where there was a live animal presentation, although Matt prefers the one we occasionally get in our backyard (we still see lots of birds, including sometimes a turkey, we have some snakes that we catch sunning sometimes, and we've seen some toads).

Checking out the turtle

On Sundays, when I'm at work, Matt has a great time with Jon. They usually go swimming together in the local pond, but one Sunday they also went to a Touch-a-Truck event. Jon said the big hit was the SWAT vehicle with its lookout turret. Matt does enjoy having a good vantage point from which to view everything...

Not sure he's ready to drive heavy machinery yet

Walkie talkies are fun!

Touching a truck

Trying out some seats

Of course, sometimes we stayed home.

Playing with water in the backyard

Running through the backyard

Trying out his newly put together car ramp (it's a good thing he likes sending things down ramps, because he has a lot of these sorts of toys!)

Feeding himself some yogurt

Refreshed after a good nap

Feeding an animal cracker to Daddy's dragon (which went better than his offer of animal crackers to planes flying overhead)

Trying to play with the cat

Finally, this morning we went out to a local farm, then to a playground. At the farm we saw lambs who were just born hours earlier. They were so little, but already walking around and baa-ing. Matt wasn't even aware how neat of an experience we had!
