He also had his first encounter with a sippee cup. We let him play with it and try to figure it out. The first few attempts may not have been successful, as this video shows, but by Wednesday he seemed to have the hang of it.
Tuesday we went to our moms' club coffee break, then a check-up appointment for me. We spent the afternoon with some friends, where Matt and his baby buddy needed a little time to figure each other out. They finally found a good compromise, standing around a baby play table and banging away. Here is Matt playing with that toy by himself. Notice the left leg kick; that's a new little quirk.
That's how Mozart got started, right?
In any case, all of that banging makes a baby hungry.
Wednesday we had baby story time at the library. We enjoyed spending the rest of the day at home for a bit of a break. Here's Matt doing some tummy time, which currently seems to include a few face plants:
I was also excited to see that despite a dusting of snow that morning our daffodils finally bloomed. Matt didn't seem as impressed.
Thursday I went into work for the first time to help with a school program while a very generous friend watched Matt. I was almost more worried about her being overwhelmed with her baby and mine than I was about Matt, who has a good time - and luckily naps, too - wherever he goes.
That afternoon we went to an Easter egg hunt for our moms' club. Matt was too young to join in the fun looking for eggs and eating candy, but he enjoyed watching the other kids run around, and we both got a chance to catch up with some friends. Friday we went for a walk with a friend and her baby, and then we participated in a study about mother-infant communication at a local university. Here's Matt taking a quiet moment to process all of the questions we were asked:
Saturday we went car shopping. I like my car, but we need a little more room these days for the car seat and stroller plus all-wheel- / four-wheel-drive so I'm less likely to get stuck in the snow with a baby in the back. Finally, on Sunday we joined a friend's family who very sweetly invited us to join them for Easter dinner. Matt dressed up and behaved himself for the most part, but he tried to sneak a taste of whipped cream.
Whew! I don't know about Matt, but that week wore me out. This coming week is school vacation week around here, and we need the break!
