I've already posted about our July 4th and zoo adventures, but here's what we were up to the rest of the month.
Not surprisingly, we went to a few playgrounds.
Future super hero driving the fire engine
Climbing up the slide, then sliding back down his current preferred way (on his tummy)
Exploring the solar system
Believe it or not, we're at a playground with friends...
Snack break
Trying out a tricycle
Driving the trucks up the stairs so they can go down the slide, too (a game he and his buddy invented together)
Library story time resumed this month, along with a few other events for the summer reading program.
Saying hi to the library's tarantula in residence
We saw a presentation on animals. Here Matt is telling me about the big frog.
We also saw a juggler, whom Matt found interesting.
Matt shows off some of his prizes from the reading program:
A T-shirt and some super hero sunglasses.
We went on a hike.
Not so sure about his first time in the backpack carrier this summer
And we're off.
We went to the children's museum, where a petting zoo was taking place.
Doctoring the baby dolls
Trying on the dinosaur costumes (sorry for the blurry photos, but he wouldn't stay still!)
One of his favorite activities in their outdoor space: cars
Playing the musical instruments
Having a seat
With a duckling
Saying hi to the kids
With a baby bunny
We got season passes to the nearby pond for summer swimming. Jon often goes with Matt on the weekend, but Matt and I met a friend there last week on one particularly hot afternoon.
Enjoying a post-swim banana
We went over to a few friends' houses and hosted some friends and play groups.
Stopping for a drink of water while playing in the water in a friend's yard
Digging in the dirt with a friend
Of course, Matt helped out and kept himself busy around the house.
Sweeping
And mowing
Measuring out some rice
Feeding his toy vehicles
Trying out the kitchen chairs (and coming ever closer to using a regular chair)
Building with his baby Legos (I guess it's time to break out the many Duplos sets we have for him.)
And we played in the backyard.
As always, his collection of dig digs gets a lot of use.
The sandbox also continues to get a lot of use.
And he still enjoys his slide.
He wasn't so sure when I filled up his swimming pool, although after wanting to dump it out he agreed to change into swimwear and splash around.
Sometimes, however, nothing beats just running through the yard.
Always up for a ride
I think my car lost its space in the garage.
Parked at the end of our street, watching the cars go by and hoping one is Daddy
All of that hard work and play deserves a good bath!
Here's Matt preparing for our big adventure this month:
Stay tuned for that (and wish us luck)!
