Matt's First Flight

Last week we went on our first major trip with Matt, including his first airplane flight. (Or should I say flights, since we had to switch planes?)

We got to the airport in plenty of time. Matt took his first bus ride from the airport parking lot to the terminal.

We had plenty of time to check in and then grab some water and a snack before boarding.

Then it was time to get on the plane.

Our first flight went smoothly. Matt got a little antsy towards the end, but we managed to keep him well enough occupied that he didn't cause too much trouble. We were all ready to stretch our legs when we landed, though. Luckily we had plenty of time to walk around, eat some lunch, refill our water bottles, and do other necessary activities before we got on our second flight.

Waiting for our tortas and guacamole with tortilla chips (Airport food can be surprisingly delicious these days, which is a good thing because we only got a drink on both flights.)

At our layover, the children's museum sponsors a children's play area, which we happily explored. After being too excited to nap during the first flight, Matt had some energy to burn off before we boarded our second flight.

Matt was very tired and a bit fussy for the second flight. He fell asleep shortly after takeoff, woke once when a little change in pressure caused his ears to pop, but then slept all the way through landing. He woke up as we were leaving the plane, just in time to meet his Grandma, Grandpa, and five aunts and uncles (plus one significant other) who were all waiting for our arrival. It was quite the welcome!
