Maine, part 1

The weekend before this one we went on a vacation, the first we have taken as a family of four. We went up to Acadia National Park in Maine with my parents and my sister and her husband to celebrate my parents' 40th wedding anniversary this past January. Matt actually enjoyed the long car ride with all of the new things to do we had packed. Andy wasn't as fond of it, although he did better on the way back, perhaps because we worked around his nap schedule better.

I'll break up this post into two parts. This will cover Thursday and our sight-seeing on Friday, and the next one will be for Saturday and our trip home on Sunday.

Friday morning

It was rainy, cool, and breezy on Friday, which influenced our sightseeing plans. Friday morning we went to the Oceanarium to learn about lobsters and other sea life.

After lunch with everyone at a BBQ place, where Matt discovered that he really, really does not like jalapenos, Jon, the boys, and I went on a driving tour of Acadia. We made a few stops, including Thunder Hole, Jordan Pond, and Cadillac Mountain.

At Thunder Hole (a cave worn away by the waves where water comes booming out) during low tide, which does not create as impressive a splash

We then drove up to the top of Cadillac Mountain
