August 2017 Recap

Here are our regular August outings and activities. I'll post more from our trip and from our special outings over the next few days.

Our August included a lot of outside activities, thanks to the usually nice weather.

We did a lot of things in and through our library.

As part of the summer reading program Matt went on the Fun Bus and had his face painted.

We went to some other programs outside.

We went to an animal-themed program at a park with a small zoo.

Matt went down the big slide!

Trying to catch the water

Andy went through the tunnel

... while the big kids did the parachute.

Our town's historical society sponsored a bubble day on the lawn.

We went to several storywalks. Here's one about astronauts:

Playing in "floam"

The astronaut on a space walk (and his assistant)

Starry play dough

And another local library hosted a small touch a truck that was a big hit with Matt (but not so much with Andy, who wasn't a fan of all of the honking).

I don't have a picture of the sound of the bubble wrap all over the moving truck as it was being stomped and jumped on. That was one of the biggest hits of the night.

Peeking in the ambulance

"Driving" the front loader

Andy wondering when we were leaving

We did a few other indoor activities.

Saying hi to the lobsters while grocery shopping

Andy did the first part of a multi-year study that benefits autism research. He is unimpressed with the EEG hat.

Including at home:

Andy sweeping

Check-up from Dr. Matt

Andy pausing for a moment of quiet

Matt working on his new coloring book from the touch a truck event

We went to a number of playgrounds, including one new to us and an old favorite that was redone this year.

The newly renovated playground:

Matt playing with a friend on a spinning structure

Andy in the train (a holdover)

Andy trying to climb up the tunnel

On the rope platform swing

Matt on the new climbing stucture

Playing kickball with the kindergartners

Andy swinging

On the sort of merry go round

Playground #2 (We've been here before, but it's a bit of a drive so we don't visit it often.)

In the bouncy turtles

Swinging fun

Andy in the sandbox

Two boys in a swing

Spinning in the merry go round

The new to us (and also newly redone) playground

In the honeycombs (Andy is indicating that he heard a plane)

In the companion swing

Playground #4 (this is one we've been to several times, although it's been a while - this is Andy's first time here)

Playing the musical instruments

Banging on a drum while Matt runs around with friends

And we spent almost every afternoon we could outside in the backyard.
